Ananyevo Forestry Service Camp (Kherson Oblast, Ukraine)
The Ananyevo (Ananiev) Forestry Service Camp, or Ananjever Forstei, was located in the Russian (now Ukrainian) province of Kherson. It was established in 1907 on crown lands, three miles (five km) from the railroad and postal station of Sherebkovo, for 74 Mennonite young men, as an alternative to military service. It was supervised by a preacher-manager. In July 1913 the subsidiary unit Baital, 10 miles (16 km) distant, also established for 75 men, was assigned to another forestry service camp, although its personnel was transferred back to the main camp, and the name was changed from Ananyevo to Sherebkovo Forestry Service Camp.
