The first Old Order Amish moved to Anderson County, Kansas, from the Haven settlement in Reno County, Kansas, in the spring of 1903. The five families were those of Benedict Mullet, Joe E. G. Yoder, Ammon Miller, Levi L. Knepp and Rudy D. Bontrager. Seven families from Gibson, Mississippi, joined them in the spring of 1904, including the family of Preacher Isaac Chupp. Following the death of Chupp, Eli Beachy was ordained preacher in 1904 and Noah J. Yoder in 1905. In 1953 the congregation had a membership of 49, with Jerry J. Yoder serving as preacher. The local address of most of the members was Garnett.
