Bertie Mennonite Church (Sherkston, Ontario, Canada)
R.R. 1, Sherkston, ON, L0S 1R0. Located on Lot 35, Concession 1 of Bertie Township one mile east of Sherkston. Minister Simon Martin served in 1930 as a congregational leader. In 1925 there were 25 members. The congregation dissolved in 1931. It had been affiliated with the Mennonite Conference of Ontario since 1820. The language of worship was English.
The community was settled about 1788, and a congregation was formally organized in the early 1800s. The first building was occupied in 1828, with subsequent building programs in 1853 and 1917. George Zavitz is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through immigration from the United States.
Bertie Mennonite sold its church building to Bertie Brethren in Christ Church in 1931.
The congregation was also known as Sherkston Mennonite Church.
