Brundage, Daniel (1812-1895)

Daniel Brundage (1812-1895) was a pioneer bishop of the Mennonite Church in Kansas, although he was born in Ontario. While living in Canada he was ordained to the ministry. Later he moved to Elkhart County, IN. In 1869 he moved to Missouri, where he was ordained bishop of the Bethel congregation near Tipton, Moniteau County on 28 May 1870. After a tornado destroyed his buildings and personal property in 1872, he moved to Kansas the next year and settled in McPherson County, where he organized the Spring Valley congregation. During the years 1873-1881 (?) and 1887-1889, he served the Kansas congregations as bishop, travelling in his two wheeled springless cart to one of the four churches in his circuit each Sunday. He was known as "Old Faithful Bishop Brundage." In 1889 he discontinued his services and moved to Elkhart County, IN, where he retired.
