Christian Fellowship (Mennonite Brethren Church)

Christian Fellowship was a Mennonite Brethren organization of and for the young people of the denomination. The organization was local but also denominational in scope, under the supervision and guidance of district conference youth committees which in turn worked in cooperation with the General Conference Christian Fellowship Committee. The organization was initiated in 1940 for the purpose of providing a time and place for separate Bible instruction and church and conference training for young people. Its objectives were fourfold and each local organization was divided into four study and service departments, viz., the missionary, the educational, the recreational or Christian service, and the devotional departments. Each department was headed by a chairman and assistants. The department then provided study material for their programs and seeks work projects for the entire group. The whole organization was headed by an executive committee with a president at the head. Services were held Sunday evenings before the evening service. Some churches also included children's fellowship in separate meetings. In most of the conference districts the Christian Fellowship also sponsored a summer youth camp under the supervision of the district youth committee.
