Cornerstone Church (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada)
315 Lenore Dr., Saskatoon, SK, S7K 7Z5. (306) 931-4949. Pastor Malvin J. Braun served in 2000 as a congregational leader. In 1965 there were 230 members; in 1975, 262; in 1985, 329; in 1995, 281; 2000, 284. The congregation has been affiliated with the Conference of Mennonites of Saskatchewan, the Conference of Mennonites in Canada / Mennonite Church Canada (1952-) and the General Conference Mennonite Church (1956-1999). The language of worship is English; the transition from German occurred in the 1940s.
The congregation began services in 1948, and formally organized in 1952. The first building was occupied in 1949, with subsequent building programs in 1957 and 1989/90. Peter Sawatzky is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through urbanization from rural Saskatchewan, immigration from the Soviet Union and outreach by First Mennonite Church.
Cornerstone was originally known as Mayfair Mennonite Mission.
