East Holbrook Mennonite Church (Cheraw, Colorado, USA)
East Holbrook Mennonite Church (Mennonite Church USA), located near Cheraw, Colorado, originated when the Mennonites living there met to worship with other denominations in a school building. Eventually, the Mennonites were responsible for most of the services. In 1904 they built a church with John M. Nunemaker as the charter pastor. This building burned down in 1907, and was replaced with the present building.
In 1954 this congregation had 134 members. Richard Birky was the bishop, Aaron Leatherman the minister, and Bert Snyder deacon. The congregation was a member of the South Central Mennonite Conference (it later became part of the new Mountain States Mennonite Conference). It cooperated with the La Junta congregation in holding quarterly singing programs and annual Sunday-school workers' conferences.
