Egg (Vorarlberg, Austria)
Egg, on the Bregenzer Ach in the Vorarlberg (between Bregenz and Au), where the last executions of Anabaptists took place in the Holy Roman Empire. On 24 May 1618, on the eve of the Thirty Years' War, Jost Wilhelm, who had joined the Hutterian Brethren, was beheaded on account of his faith; and on 8 August 1618, Christine Brünnerin, a poor widow, suffered the same fate, because she was planning to join the Hutterian Brethren and to go to Moravia.
