Elconius, Hermannus (d. after 1607)
Hermannus Elconius (Herman Eelkes), born at Harlingen, Dutch province of Friesland, died there after 1607, was the last Roman Catholic priest at Harlingen before the Reformation; about 1580 he left the Catholic Church and in 1581 became a Reformed minister at Utrecht, and from 1589 at Harlingen. Here he came into conflict with the Reformed Synod; in 1602 he left the Reformed church and joined the Mennonites at Harlingen. In 1605 he is reported to have been their preacher. Nothing further is known about this remarkable man.
