Family Almanac
Family Almanac, first published in 1870 by John F. Funk & Bro., Elkhart, IN, was issued annually from 1870 to 1908. After 1909 it was been published annually by the Mennonite Publishing House, Scottdale, PA. The issues of 1902-12 inclusive were combined with the Mennonite Yearbook and Directory. Almanac calculations were made by Lawrence J. lbach 1870-79, L. J. Heatwole 1880-1933, J. T. Sparkman 1934, Hart Wright 1935-55. Edited by Daniel Kauffman 1909-22, John L. Horst 1923-42, Ellrose D. Zook 1943-55. The 1949 issue, with 69 pages and a circulation of 7,000, contained the calendar, almanac calculations, religious articles, general information for the home, and a ministerial directory of the Mennonite Church (MC) and other Mennonite bodies. It enjoyed wide readership among the Pennsylvania German Mennonites in Ontario. It was discontinued with the 1955 issue.
