Jan Lievensz (d. 1550)

Jan Lievensz of Gent, an Anabaptist martyr, was burned at the stake on 18 August 1550, at Antwerp, Belgium. This Jan Lievensz, of whom no further particulars were available, is not the same person, also called Jan, to whom reference is made in the song "Ick salmet vreugden singen" (I will sing with joy), of the Lietboecxken van den Offer des Heeren, as Bibliographie II, 707, No. 338 reports. The Jan celebrated in the song is likely Jan de Oude Kleerkoper.
