Kintzi, Peter (1802-1874)
Peter Kintzi, b. 18 October 1802 at Einsiedel in Galicia, d. 15 February 1874, at Kiernica, was a wagoner by trade, became a farmer, and worked himself up from a very modest beginning to the possession of the large Kiernica estate. He was the founder of the Mennonite church at Kiernica by creating a fund to which he contributed 3,000 florins. For all the efforts of the Mennonite brotherhood he had a warm interest and an open hand. He liked to help wherever there was need. He supported such institutions as the school at Weierhof and the Dutch Mennonite missionary association with sizable gifts. Of his 16 children, nine were living when he died.
