Nachtigal, Peter (1881-1928)
Peter Nachtigal, a Mennonite missionary in Indonesia, was born in Gnadenfeld in South Russia on 13 May 1881. He received his training at the Johanneum at Barmen and in Rotterdam, and was sent out by the Dutch Mennonite Missionary Society on 17 October 1911. He took charge of the station at Pakantan in Sumatra, Indonesia, serving with unusual success until his premature death on 5 January 1928. His post was not filled after his death. His widow lived on the Lautenbacherhof, Wurttemberg, Germany.
