Pauwels de Roovere (16th century)
Pauwels de Roovere, of Leuven (Louvain) in Belgium, a Catholic priest at Heverlee, Flanders, was arrested and imprisoned at Brussels, Belgium, in 1543; in August of this year he was degraded because of heresy and sentenced to life imprisonment in the castle of Vilvoorde. Further information about his fate is lacking. Though the case is not clear and it is not known what the nature of de Roovere's heresy was, it is very probable that it was Anabaptism.
