Regier, Gerhard (1837-1902)

Gerhard Regier, deacon and mayor: b. 22 March 1837 in Prussia, the thirteenth of fifteen children of Elder Peter Regier (1798-1856) and Margaretha (Regier) Regier (1799-1861). Peter married Agatha Wiens (26 May 1843, Tiegenhagen, Prussia - 20 December 1904, Tiegenhagen, Prussia) on 3 April 1865. She was the daughter of Cornelius Wiens and Agatha (Wiebe) Wiens (a cousin of Gerhard's). Gerhard d. 9 October 1902 in Tiegenhagen, Prussia.

Gerhard was a farmer and estate holder. He served as mayor in the Tiegenhagen district and was elected to the position of deacon in the Tiegenhagen Mennonitengemeinde in 1879. In 1881 he was elected to the office of preacher in the same church but declined the office.
