Samland (Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia)

Samland (Sambia), an area near Königsberg in former East Prussia. Mennonites from West Prussia settled here in 1714 and organized a congregation, which soon numbered about 250 members. For the history of this congregation see Lithuania, Bagdannen, and Tilsit.
