Sawyer County (Wisconsin, USA) Old Order Amish Mennonite Settlement, now extinct. In 1908-13 about 15 Amish families moved to Exeland, WI, among them Bishop Eli J. Bontrager and family of Mylo, ND, formerly of Indiana. In September 1913 Rudolph Hochstetler was ordained to the ministry. In 1916 Bontrager returned to Indiana for church and personal reasons. A minister, Ira Nissley, was ordained in 1919 and with two ministers the church prospered, as a number of other families moved in. After another bishop who lived close by took over the bishop care of the church, however, the unity of the church suffered and the families started to leave. The settlement was dissolved.
