Schmitt, Hermann (d. 1942)
Hermann Schmitt, a German Mennonite of the Deutschhof congregation, was sent out in November 1926 by the Dutch Mennonite Missions Association as a missionary on Java, serving at Tajoe and Margoredjo. During World War II the ship on which Schmitt and his brother-in-law Otto Stauffer, also a missionary, were transported was torpedoed in the Indian Ocean on 18 January 1942, and both perished.
