Scott County Old Order Amish Settlement (Scott County, Missouri, USA)

An Old Order Amish settlement consisting of about 35 members at the most lived in Scott County, Missouri, about 1924-1936. The original settlers, the families of Dan P. Bontrager, Sam S. Miller, Christ M. Bontrager, Joe Schrock, John S. Miller, and Sam Mast, came to Scott County from Butler County about fifty miles west, having moved there from Reno County, Kansas. M. E. Bontrager served as bishop and Christ M. Bontrager as minister. D. Roy Nisley was ordained in 1929. The congregation was discontinued in 1934. All of the families moved to Indiana, Michigan, and Buchanan County, Iowa, the last family leaving in 1936.
