Tjallings, Binnert (d. 1795)
Binnert Tjallings, a merchant at Grouw in Friesland, Netherlands, was a successful businessman, who, probably through Collegiant influence, came to believe that business practices are not compatible with the Christian faith. He gave up his business, studied languages (English, German), history, and theology, and then served the Mennonite congregation at Dokkum as minister 1788-d. 1795. This is told by Joost Halbertsma, whose mother was a sister of Binnert Tjallings.
