Twente, Ring of (Twente, Overijssel, Netherlands)
Ring of Twent(h)e, a group of Mennonite congregations in the Dutch district of Twente, founded 27 July 1856. Like other Rings its purpose was to establish closer contact between the four independent congregations in this area - Almelo, Borne, Enschedé, and Hengelo - and to organize mutual aid in case of vacant pulpits. The history of Ring Twente is found in an address by S. Gosses Gzn, read at the centennial meeting of the Ring on 14 September 1956, which paper was published under the title De Geschiedenis van een Klavervier (1957, n.p.).
