Vancouver Mennonite Brethren Church (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)

The Vancouver Mennonite Brethren congregation began services about 1935, and formally organized on 25 April 1937 with a few dozen members. The first building was occupied in 1945; the group initially met in a rented hall. The church basement was built in 1941; the sanctuary was completed in 1945. John Peters is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through the urbanization of Mennonites from the Fraser Valley.

 In 1965 there were 536 members; in 1975, 196; in 1985, 183; in 1995, 139; in 2000, 125. The congregation has been affiliated with the British Columbia Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Churches (1937-), the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (1937-) and the General Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (1937-2002). The language of worship is English.

The congregation's address is 5887 Prince Edward St., Vancouver, BC, V5W 2X8. (604) 325-3313. Pastor Johannes Stoltz served in 2002 as a congregational leader.

Vancouver Mennonite Brethren Church was the first Mennonite Brethren church in Vancouver.
