Waldheim Mennonite Brethren Church (Waldheim, Saskatchewan, Canada)
The Waldheim Mennonite Brethren congregation at Waldheim, Saskatchewan, began services and formally organized in 1918 with 88 members. The first building was occupied in 1920, with a subsequent building program in 1982. Elder David Dyck is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through immigration from the United States and division from Brotherfield Mennonite Brethren due to travel distances.
Waldheim amalgamated with Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren (Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada) in 1973 and Brotherfield Mennonite Brethren on 2 October 1988.
In 1925 there were 112 members; in 1950, 115; in 1965, 87; in 1975, 123; in 1985, 150; in 1994, 205; in 2000, 213. The congregation has been affiliated with the Saskatchewan Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (1919-), Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (1919-) and the General Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches (1919-2002). The language of worship is English; the transition from German occurred in the 1960s.
