Warkentin, Gerhard (1837-1902)
Warkentin, Gerhard (1837-1902), was born in Tiegenhagen, Molotschna Mennonite settlement, South Russia. He came to Zagradovka Mennonite settlement in 1873, farming in the village of Blumenort; he then taught school for a number of years. He was elected minister by the Nikolaifeld Mennonite Church in 1873, and became the assistant of Elder Voth; upon Voth's retirement in 1895, Warkentin succeeded him in that office. He died 28 May 1902.
