Gheese Aelbrechtsdochter (d. 1539)
Gheese Aelbrechtsdochter, an Anabaptist martyr, wife of Lambrecht Duppijns of Haarlem, Dutch province of North Holland, was arrested there on 23 May 1539 when a meeting of Anabaptists in their home was surprised by the officials. She was severely tortured and was executed by drowning on 29 May 1539. Like her husband and the group meeting with them, Gheese was probably a follower of David Joris, for in their home were found about 500 copies of a book by David Joris.
