Hendrik Gülich van Berch, who lived at Cologne, Germany, and was likely a preacher of the Mennonite congregation of Cologne, published an Antwordt (Reply) to a letter written to Marcus (?) by a Mennonite preacher in Friesland. A copy of this booklet is found in the Amsterdam Mennonite Library. The title page of this copy is lost, hence the place and date of publication are unknown. The Antwordt is dated 23 January 1577. From the book itself we are informed that the author combats the views of Hans de Ries and Dirk Volkertsz Coornhert. In this book is found a note stating that Hendrik van Gülich died 7 September 1577. Another book by van Gülich is found in the Amsterdam Mennonite Library, entitled Ein Versamlung oder Zamenfügung, etlicher einheilliger sprüch usz dem Zeugnisz des neuwen bundtz, nach der Orthnung des A.B.C. betreffende so woll die Lher, als den wandel der geheilichten . . . (n.p., 1592).
