Hanekuyk family
Hanekuyk, a former Mennonite family at Harlingen, Dutch province of Friesland, related by marriage to other well-known Harlingen Mennonite families, such as Fontein, Oosterbaan, and Hingst. Aagjen Douwes Hanekuyk (1737-1813) of Harlingen, married to Heere Oosterbaan, was preacher at Makkum and Harlingen and later professor of the Amsterdam Mennonite Seminary. Hylke Everts Hanekuyk (circa 1745-1824) of Harlingen was a friend of Pastor Freerk Hoekstra of Harlingen. A theological study written by Hylke E. Hanekuyk, entitled Verhandeling over de voortreffelijkheid van de Christelijke geloofs en zedeleer, was edited after his death by Hoekstra.
