Jan Claesz (d. 1539)

Jan Claesz, a cloth shearer of Gouda, Dutch provĀ­ince of South Holland (not of Grouw, Friesland), an otherwise unknown Anabaptist martyr, was beĀ­headed at Leeuwarden, capital of Friesland, together with four others, on 8 February 1539, charged with (re) baptism and "contempt of the holy sacrament and the institutions of the Holy Church."
