Janneken Dhanins, wife of Lievin van Booxtale and daughter of Jan van Sleidingen, an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake on 19 August 1573 on the Vrijdagsmarkt at Ghent, Belgium, together with two other women, Martinken Meere and Olyverynken's Keizers. All three were gagged to prevent their speaking to the bystanders. The crowd, indignant at this precaution, assumed a threatening attitude against the executioner and his aids, so that the soldiers were charged to clear the market place, which measure nearly caused a revolt.
