In the fall of 2008 Wellspring Christian Fellowship and West Abbotsford Mennonite Church came together to form Level Ground Mennonite Church. Leaders from the two congregations began meeting together at the beginning of 2008 to discuss possible areas of cooperation and joint ministry. These discussions eventually led to exploring the idea of a merger of the two congregations. The congregations worshiped together for four Sundays in the summer of 2008 and soon after, each congregation chose to merge and form a new congregation in the facilities of the West Abbotsford congregation.
The congregation's charter service took place on 25 January 2009 with 172 charter members, and the congregation was accepted as a member of Mennonite Church British Columbia on 21 February 2009. Karen Heidebrecht Thiessen, from the West Abbotsford congregation, is the leading minister.
