Lövenich (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany)

Lövenich (Loevenich) is a town in the duchy of Jülich, Germany, Lower Rhine area, where there have been a few Mennonites since the 16th century. Elder Theunis van Hastenrath baptized someone from Lövenich about 1550. Apparently the von Loevenich family found at Burtscheid near Aachen, Germany, and van Leuvenigh, at Amsterdam, Holland, derived its name from this town.
