Predigerfonds, a fund established in Germany for the improvement of Mennonite ministers' salaries, pensions for retired ministers, support of ministers' widows, etc. Such funds were once established in the North German city congregations. A general fund for salaries was established in 1897 by the German Mennonite Conference known as the Vereinigung, also a fund for widows' support. In 1921 a third fund for ministers' pensions was created. Each of these funds is independently estab­lished and is operated apart from the general treasury of the Vereinigung, on the basis of using only the income from invested capital. In 1918 the total capital of the three funds was as follows: Salary Fund DM 75,785.65, Widows' Fund DM 39,733.55, Pension Fund DM 15,500.00. Unfortunately the capital funds were almost wiped out in the inflation of 1923, and again in 1948. The status in the late 1950s was very weak.
