Stenvers, a Dutch Mennonite family descended from a family of Burgsteinfurt, Westphalia, Germany. Since the early 17th century a branch lived at Enschedé in the textile business, and later tex­tile manufacture; a number of them served as dea­cons of the Mennonite church. Sometime later its members were also found in other Mennonite congregations. Kl. Stenvers was treasurer of the Deventer Mennonite congregation about 1900. In the 17th century the name Stenvers was also spelled Stenforts or Stenvorts. They may have be­ longed to the same branch as the Stenfort family.
