Stern, Alfred (1846-1936)

Alfred Stern: German historian; born 22 November 1846, professor of history at the University of Bern. He is the author of the article Dr. Balthasar Hubmaier, in the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie (XIII, 264), and the book Ueber die zwölf Artikel der Bauern und einige andere Aktenstücke aus der Bewegung von 1525, in which he tried to prove that Hubmaier was the author of the Twelve Articles. Stern's brother Adolf treated the Anabaptists in a fictional form in his novelle Die Wiedertäufer (Leipzig, 1866).
