Straten, van der, family
Straten (Straeten), van der, an Anabaptist-Mennonite family in Flanders, Belgium, three of whose members died as martyrs—Joost van der Straten, executed at Antwerp in 1571, and his two sons, Hans, executed at Brussels in 1571, and Martin, executed at Ghent in 1572. Probably the van der Straten family originally came from Kortrijk. Among the first Calvinists in FlanÂders there were also a number of persons bearing the same family name.
