Vermeulensvolk, a branch of the Dutch Mennonites who sided with Jacob Pieters van der Meulen, elder at Haarlem, who with his followers left the Old Flemish Mennonites in 1593 (not 1598). They were also called Bankroetiers because the cause of the schism was the failure to apply the ban to a member who be­came bankrupt (Dutch, bankyoet).
