Westerkwartier (Groningen, Netherlands)
Westerkwartier is the southwest district of the present Dutch province of Groningen, in which are found the congregations of Grijpskerk (formerly Pieterzijl), Den Horn (formerly Zuidhorn), and Noordhorn (formerly Humsterland) and the extinct congregation of Visvliet. A short history, particularly on the southern part of the Westerkwartier, is found in S. K. de Waard, Aanteekeningen uit de Geschiedenis van Doopsgezinden in 't Westerkwartier (Groningen, 1901).
