Wilde, Willem (1825-1904)

Willem Wilde, a Dutch Roman Catholic, published two papers, "De Geloofsvervolging der 16de eeuw" and "Merkwaardige cijfers betreffende de geloofsvervol ging," in Studiën, 1877 and 1894. In these papers he accused T. J. van Braght of partiality and inexactness in his Martyrs' Mirror. Wilde was opposed by Samuel Cramer in Doopsgezinde Bijdragen 1899, 70 ff. Thereupon Wilde published Zonderlinge Critiek (Amsterdam, 1900), and Cramer replied in De Zondagsbode and in Doopsgezinde Bijdragen 1900, 191-210.
