Brunt, Reinier (16th century)

Reinier Brunt was attorney-general of the Court of Holland, seated in The Hague, afterwards chief justice of this court, in the first half of the 16th century. As a result of his intensive efforts and his fierce hatred for the Anabaptists, many were apprehended and executed. The archives of the Mennonite congregation at Amsterdam contain a large number of his letters and reports. He especially hunted down the Anabaptists in the Dutch province of North Holland 1534-1538.
