Cathalijne Loury (d. 1568)

Cathalijne Loury (or Burieu), an Anabaptist martyr, wife of Pieter Michiels, a native of Zwevegem, Flanders, was burned for her faith at Bruges, Belgium, in 1568. She belonged to the congregation which was led by Jacob de Rore, and of which 14 members were seized in February 1568 by the henchmen of the Inquisition. Nine of them forsook their faith, but Cathalijne and four others remained faithful to the cruel death. The exact date of her execution is not known; it must have taken place between 13 April and 28 July 1568.
