Gäde, Gerhard J. (20th century)

Gerhard J. Gäde (Gaede), b. in the Molotschna settlement, Russia, attended the Gnadenfeld Zentralschule, taught at Lichtfelde, Molotschna, and later at the Davlekanovo Zentralschule, Ufa. In 1911-1915 he taught at the Omsk Zentralschule, Siberia. In 1925 he attended the Mennonite General Conference (Bundeskonferenz) in Moscow. He was a very gifted educator with artistic inclinations and a severe critic of the weaknesses in Mennonite culture and practice.
