Kartels, Joseph (1872-1931)Joseph Kartels, a German Catholic historian was for a time city archivist at Fulda. From 1906-1915 he taught at the Realgymnasium at Ahrweiler; in 1920 he entered a Capuchin monastery, and in 1921 he became a priest in Mainz. He inaugurated the Fuldaer Geschichtsblätter in 1902 with an address, "Die Wiedertäuferbewegung im ehemaligen Hochstift Fulda" (pp. 3-20), which he delivered to the historical society of Fulda on the Anabaptist movement (1529-1587) in Grossenbach near Hünfeld, based on records in the Marburg state archives.
