Lynken de Meyere (Smeyers), an Anabaptist martyr, was beheaded on 24 March 1562 inside the Gravensteen castle at Ghent, Belgium, together with Janneken Kinderkens and Kathalyne van Lokerhoute. Lynken, who was 26 years of age, was the wife of Pieter van Male, who was put to death at Ghent on 17 July the same year. She is said to have been a native of Zandbergen and a daughter of Jan de Meyere. The name of De Meyere is often found among the Flemish emigrants who fled about 1630 to the Dutch town of Aardenburg.
