Der Neue amerikanische Calender, a 32-44 page almanac started in 1930, was published in the German language by Johan Raber, an Amish layperson at Baltic, Ohio. In addition to the usual features of almanacs, it contained the "Schriften und Lieder" (writings and hymns) used in Old Order Amish church services. The writings included inspirational articles and poems, articles on church history, and a list of Amish ministers arranged according to bishop districts within states. In 1951 the calender also started carrying lists of ministers among the Old Colony Mennonites in Mexico and the Hutterian Brethren in Canada and the United States. In 1970 an English-language edition, New American Calendar, also began to be published. (The Mennonite Historical Library (Goshen, IN) has a complete file.)
