Santa Clara Sommerfeld Mennonite Settlement (Chihuahua, Mexico)

Santa Clara Sommerfeld Mennonite settlement, at Chihuahua, Mexico, located north of the Manitoba Mennonite settlement, was established in 1926 (?) by some 600 Sommerfeld Mennonites from Manitoba. For a while, c. l950, the Mennonite Central Committee operated a hospital there. The General Conference Mennonite Mission Board was operating an elementary school at this place in 1957.
