Thomas, Jan (17th century)Jan Thomas, an elder of the Flemish Mennonites in Groningen, Netherlands, who together with his co-elders Teunis Gerrits and Cornelis Jans wrote a letter (February 1632) to the Flemish (Lamist) congregation of Amsterdam rejecting the invitation to the meeting to be held at Dordrecht, where Flemish and Old Flemish were to be united. They expressed the hope that the Amsterdam congregation would likewise oppose the unification. The merger, however, came about in 1632 on the basis of the Dordrecht Confession.
