Willow Park Church (Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada)The Willow Park congregation in Kelowna, BC began services and formally organized in 1947. The first building was occupied in 1954, with subsequent building programs in 1967 and ca. 1988. J. J. Unger is considered the founding leader of the group. The congregation originated through colonization from the Canadian Prairies and the Soviet Union. The congregation was known as Kelowna Mennonite Brethren prior to July 1988 when the church moved to a new location. In 1950 there were 63 members; in 1965, 120; in 1975, 195; in 1985, 260; in 1993, 376; in 2000, 488. The congregation has been affiliated with the British Columbia Conference of the Mennonite Brethren Church, the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches and the General Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. The language of worship is English; the transition from German occurred in 1967. The congregation's address is 439 Highway 33 W., Kelowna, BC, V1X 1Y2. (250) 765-6622.
