Calvaert family

Calvaert (Caluwaert, Kalvaert), a former Mennonite family, found in the 16-17th centuries in the Dutch congregations of Haarlem and Leiden. Adriaen Calvaert, who in the early 17th century was a preacher of the Flemish church at Haarlem, published Vertooninghe ende Verantwoordinge tot dienst van allen onsen Medegenoten des Gelofjs (Haarlem, 1619). The Calvaerts stemmed from Flanders, Belgium. Here Daniel Calvaerd of Tielt died in 1564 as a martyr at Armentieres.
