Jakob Ellenberger, nephew of Jakob Ellenberger (1800-1879), born 2 August 1831, at Gönnheim, Palatinate, Germany, died 5 February 1901, at Friedelsheim, became a bookbinder in Dürkheim (1853), entered the missionary training school at Basel in 1867, was unanimously chosen as preacher by the congregation at Ibersheim, but resigned in 1871. In 1872 he served the congregation at Eichstock, Bavaria, and from 1881 to the end of his life he worked with great success at Friedelsheim. His outstanding contributions are three volumes of Bilder aus dem Pilgerleben (1878, 1880, and 1883) and the Christlicher Gemeinde-Kalender (1892), which was founded at his instigation.
