Frantz, Gabriel (18th century)Gabriel Frantz, a preacher of the Frisian (also called Waterlander) congregation of the Culmsche Niederung (or Schönsee), Poland, in 1725-1750, wrote a number of letters to the Dutch Mennonite Committee of Foreign Needs at Amsterdam, asking their financial help in obtaining from the Catholic bishop of Culm the permission to live in peace and freedom in his territory. In reply, the Dutch Mennonites repeatedly sent him money. BibliographyHoop Scheffer, Jacob Gijsbert de.
